The South Hampton Media Center opened its' doors in April 1999 after the closing of McCaw and Scott Elementary Schools and the merging of the two into the new facility South Hampton Elementary School. The Media Center was renamed the Effie J. McCaw Library Media Center in honor of Miss McCaw the first Principal of McCaw Elementary. ( The gym is named after Mr. Scott, first principal of Scott Elementary.) The Media Center house the following: 10,000 + library books, videos, periodicals, computer software, CDs, audiovisual equipment, 17 networked computers, 3 stand-alone computers, an Internet Access Lab (23 computers), a story pit, The Write to Read Lab, etc. http://accent.bps/common/welcome.jsp;jsessionid=2589DFCDE74DEB046553D19B5FD28F11?site=156 The Media Center is automated with all of the network computers in the school having access to the Accent Search Program .(Students and Faculty can search on the computer for library materials before coming to the Media Center.
